Argentina’s Automakers and Banks Revive Zero-Interest Auto Financing

Manufacturers across the sector have reinstated no-interest credit, prompting lenders to introduce new loan lines to stimulate sluggish sales.

Overview

  • Renault, Stellantis, Chevrolet, Nissan, Volkswagen and Ford have relaunched zero-interest financing plans on new vehicles, offering loans from 10 million to 25 million pesos with terms up to 24 months.
  • Major pickup models—including the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet S10, Volkswagen Amarok, Renault Alaskan, Fiat Strada, Nissan Frontier and RAM Rampage—are available under 0% credit this month.
  • Financed purchases accounted for 48% of all new car sales in June, according to SIOMAA data, highlighting the industry’s reliance on subsidized loans to counter a 35% drop recorded in Q1 2024.
  • Toyota Argentina is the sole major manufacturer opting out of the zero-percent financing strategy on new vehicles.
  • Banks such as Santander have rolled out zero-interest loan programs for models like the Kia Seltos, featuring UVA-indexed terms and fully subsidized administrative fees.
