Argentina’s 2025 Vote Brings More Than 1 Million First-Time Teen Voters Under New Single-Paper Ballot

New analysis shows a heavy cluster in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe, raising stakes in tight legislative races.

Overview

  • Equifax estimates over one million 16–17-year-olds will cast a first ballot on October 26, about 3% of the electorate, a share that analysts note could sway close outcomes.
  • Half of these new voters are located in the Province of Buenos Aires (35.27%) and the Center region (15.15%) that includes Córdoba and Santa Fe, with the rest in NOA, NEA, CABA, Cuyo and Patagonia.
  • This cohort will debut with the Boleta Única de Papel, the single-paper ballot established by Law No. 27.781 to replace traditional party lists.
  • In Jujuy, 602,380 electors are registered across 1,806 mesas at 305 schools, including 21,299 aged 16–17, with in-person training for table authorities underway.
  • A private survey of 730 online interviews among 18–35-year-olds reported 48% support for La Libertad Avanza versus 21% for Unión por la Patria.
