Overview
- INDEC reported the wholesale price index (IPIM) rose 3.1% month over month in August, topping July’s 2.8% and the 1.9% CPI reading.
- Year to date, wholesale prices are up 15.7% and stand 22.1% higher than a year earlier, according to official data.
- The IPIB increased 3.3% and the producer price index (IPP) climbed 3.5%, with gains across domestic and imported components.
- Price pressures were strongest in beverages, textiles, agricultural products and refined petroleum, with domestic prices up 3.1% and imported 2.9%.
- Construction costs in Greater Buenos Aires rose 1.5% in August as materials, wages and general expenses increased, reflecting the UOCRA pay pact and ENRE tariff updates for Edenor and Edesur.
