Overview
- Argentina’s Resolution 139/2025 officially moves the Día del Respeto a la Diversidad Cultural from Sunday, Oct. 12, to Friday, Oct. 10, establishing a nationwide long weekend from Oct. 10–12.
- Because Oct. 10 is a national feriado, employees who work that day are entitled to double pay under Argentina’s labor law (article 166 of the Ley de Contrato de Trabajo).
- Decree 614/2025 empowered the government to transfer trasladable holidays that fall on Saturday or Sunday to the preceding Friday or following Monday, without affecting inamovible dates.
- Several Buenos Aires municipalities will add local administrative asuetos on Monday, Oct. 13—such as in parts of Lobería, Tordillo, Guaminí, Pergamino and Salto—extending the break to four days for public workers in those localities.
- In Peru, Wednesday, Oct. 8, remains the only confirmed national holiday; Minedu’s school calendar sets a management week for students from Oct. 13–17, and a congressional committee advanced a bill to shift four holidays to Mondays pending Plenary debate.
