Argentina Sets Nov. 26 Session to Reset Minimum Wage and Unemployment Benefit Benchmarks

The wage floor has been frozen since August at about $322,200, sharpening union demands for a faster, deeper update.

Overview

  • The Labor Secretariat formalized the convocation via Resolution 6/2025, signed by alternate chair Claudia Silvana Testa and published in the Official Gazette.
  • A virtual timetable was set for November 26: the commission meets at 10:00, the plenary convenes at 12:30, and a second plenary is slated for 14:00 if required.
  • The agenda covers setting a new Salario Mínimo, Vital y Móvil and defining the minimum and maximum amounts of the unemployment benefit.
  • The current SMVM remains at $322,200 per month, or $1,610 per hour, and serves as a legal reference for several ANSES-administered payments.
  • If worker and employer representatives fail to agree, the government can establish new values by resolution, a step used in previous rounds.
