Argentina Sets New Biofuel Floor Prices: Biodiesel Up 6.17%, Bioethanol 3%

Mandatory blending rules make the higher floors a direct input to gasoline and diesel costs.

Overview

  • The Energy Secretariat issued Resolutions 443/2025 and 445/2025 in the Official Gazette on November 10.
  • New minimums set biodiesel at ARS 1,688,961 per tonne, corn-based bioethanol at ARS 841,394 per liter, and sugarcane bioethanol at ARS 918,025 per liter.
  • The adjustments amount to a 6.17% rise for biodiesel and 3% for both ethanol types, in force for November until superseded.
  • Law No. 27.640 and Resolution 438/2022 require biofuel blending, including a 7.5% biodiesel cut in diesel, which transmits these costs to retail fuel prices.
  • Since December 2024, biodiesel floor prices have climbed about 58.65% and bioethanol about 30.44%, with biodiesel adjusted roughly every two weeks versus monthly for ethanol.
