Argentina Sets Four-Day November Long Weekend, Nov. 21–24

Labor law sets different obligations for the optional tourism Friday versus the mandatory holiday Monday.

Overview

  • Friday, Nov. 21 is a government-declared día no laborable for tourism, confirmed as the third and final such day of 2025 by Decree 1027/2024 and official calendars.
  • Monday, Nov. 24 is the transferred Día de la Soberanía Nacional from Thursday, Nov. 20 and is a national holiday.
  • Under Law 20.744, Article 181, employees who work on the Nov. 24 holiday must be paid double, following Sunday-rest rules.
  • For Nov. 21, Article 182 provides that attendance is at the employer’s discretion and, if worked, the day is paid at the normal rate without surcharge.
  • Authorities frame the configuration as a tourism booster, and after this break the remaining 2025 national holidays are Dec. 8 and Dec. 25.
