Argentina Sets Four-Day November Long Weekend After New Decree on Holiday Transfers

The government cites tourism and orderly rest as it designates an optional bridge day and shifts a national holiday under updated transfer rules.

Overview

  • Friday, November 21 will be a día no laborable with tourism purposes and Monday, November 24 will observe the transferred Día de la Soberanía Nacional, creating a Friday–Monday stretch.
  • Under labor rules, a national holiday is a mandatory day off with double pay if worked, while a día no laborable is optional for private employers and is paid at the normal rate if worked.
  • Decree 614/2025 formalized broader transfer powers, allowing holidays that fall on Saturdays or Sundays to move to the prior Friday or following Monday and naming the Cabinet Chief’s office as the implementing authority.
  • Separate local decrees in Buenos Aires Province add October optative pauses, including Oct. 17 in Luján and Bragado and Oct. 20 in José C. Paz (with additional local observances reported in places such as Pirovano and Ezeiza).
  • Beyond November, the remaining 2025 dates on the national calendar are Monday, December 8 (Immaculate Conception) and Thursday, December 25 (Christmas).
