Argentina Sets 1.6% Pension Rise, Extends ARS 70,000 Bonus and Adds ARS 400,000 Adoption Payment

This update follows CPI-linked mobility rules with a Senate-approved larger bonus package on hold pending a presidential veto

Overview

  • ANSES will apply a 1.6% increase to all pensions and retirement benefits from August 1, based on June’s inflation data, lifting the minimum pension to about ARS 314,248.50 before bonuses.
  • The monthly ARS 70,000 reinforcement for minimum-income retirees will continue under Decree 274/2024’s CPI-linked formula, with proportional tapering for those above the minimum threshold.
  • Beneficiaries of the Family Adoption Allowance will receive a one-time ARS 400,000 bonus in August through ANSES’s Asignaciones de Pago Único program.
  • The Senate-approved package proposing a 7.2% pension hike and ARS 110,000 bonus is now subject to President Javier Milei’s pledged veto.
  • Decree 274/2024 requires automatic benefit adjustments two months after INDEC’s CPI publication to help preserve retirees’ purchasing power amid high inflation.
