Argentina Receives First Six F-16s From Denmark as Flyover Is Moved to Saturday

Danish crews will operate the jets initially during a phased handover as Argentina rebuilds supersonic air-defense capacity.

Overview

  • Officials advanced the Buenos Aires flyover and Río Cuarto presentation to Saturday due to weather, with the aerial display set for 8:00–8:45 a.m. and a 9:00 a.m. ceremony attended by President Javier Milei.
  • The aircraft arrived in Córdoba on Friday and will be flown at first by foreign pilots, mainly Danes, with Argentine personnel serving as copilots during training.
  • The delivered F-16AM/BM airframes are Mid-Life Update variants with upgraded avionics, radar, electronic-warfare systems and Link 16 data link.
  • The first batch lands without integrated weapons even though a U.S.-approved export package includes missiles and bombs, and Argentina plans to build up capability in stages.
  • The purchase covers 24 fighters to be delivered in multiple shipments through 2026–2027, with supporting equipment and logistics ramping up over time.
