Argentina Ratifies 2026 School Calendar, Sets March 2 Start and 190-Day Minimum

  • The Ministry of Capital Humano confirmed the 2026 academic calendar to meet the 190 instructional days agreed by the Federal Education Council.
  • Most jurisdictions will begin the common period on Monday, March 2, while several start earlier in February under their provincial schedules.
  • February starts include CABA on Feb. 25, Jujuy and Chubut on Feb. 23, Santiago del Estero on Feb. 18, and other provinces such as Mendoza, Neuquén, San Luis, and Tierra del Fuego within the final week of February.
  • Winter recess periods differ by province, with many set for July 13–24, others slated for July 20–31, and some running July 6–17.
  • Classroom activities conclude nationwide on Dec. 18, 2026, with administrative closure scheduled for Dec. 23 and pre-term staff returns on Feb. 5, 6, and 9 for planning and remedial work.
