Argentina Overhauls Pilot Licensing Under ANAC's Resolution 651/2025

The overhaul aligns pilot credentials with ICAO norms to speed certification via designated examiners.

Overview

  • ANAC published Resolution 651/2025 in the Boletín Oficial, issuing a new edition of RAAC Part 61 that governs pilot licenses.
  • The Piloto Comercial de Primera Clase license is eliminated, and current holders keep medical validity, attributions and limits until January 1, 2026.
  • Commercial pilot experience is standardized at 200 flight hours as other technical hurdles are reduced, including VFR-night limits, light-helicopter type licenses, mandatory flight folios and short-interval readaptation checks.
  • Designated examiners are authorized to conduct proficiency tests on ANAC’s behalf to decentralize evaluations and cut wait times across provinces.
  • Implementation begins in 2026, and new instruction programs and knowledge exams must be operational before the end of 2027.
