Argentina Overhauls Auto Dismantler Regulations With Full Digitalization

The government’s new decree eliminates outdated manual paperwork to boost traceability in the vehicle parts market.

Overview

  • Decree 536/2025 took effect on August 4 and mandates the digital listing of recoverable and non-recoverable parts with supporting images and documentation for vehicle deregistration.
  • Each reusable component must bear a unique identifier assigned by the National Directorate of Registries and be included in an electronic Certificate of Baja y Desarme.
  • The decree abolishes the annual registration renewal in the Registro Único de Desarmaderos de Automotores y Actividades Conexas to streamline operations and cut costs.
  • Dismantlers can now submit electronic notices of temporary inactivity or operational hurdles to avoid automatic sanctions.
  • The overhaul applies to all dismantlers, used parts dealers, insurers, security forces and control agencies under the National Directorate of Registries’ supervision.
