Argentina Opens Tender to Privatize Four Comahue Hydropower Companies

The Economy Ministry set an October 23 offer opening under a multi-stage tender posted on CONTRAT.AR.

Overview

  • Resolution 1200/2025 formally launched the national and international, no-reserve sale of 100% of the shares in Alicurá, El Chocón-Arroyito, Cerros Colorados and Piedra del Águila.
  • Pliegos are available on CONTRAT.AR, a 45-day notice applies, and an ad hoc evaluation commission will review bids after the October 23, 17:00 opening.
  • Participation rules bar provincial and municipal public entities and UTEs, cap any player at 20% of national generation, and limit each bidder to a maximum of two awards.
  • Current operators may continue during the transition if they file adhesion within five days and keep a USD 4.5 million guarantee, pay Neuquén and Río Negro royalties, file bimonthly inventories, and forgo CIADI claims.
  • ENARSA holds 98% of the shares and NASA 2%; a public bank will appraise the packages, and officials have cited an expected take near US$500 million.
