Argentina Opens Public Search for Board of Unified Power and Gas Regulator

The merit-based call launches the final step to merge ENRE with Enargas into a single watchdog under a tight legal deadline.

Overview

  • The Energy Secretariat published Resolution 388/2025 to begin selecting a president, a vice president and three board members for the new ENRGE.
  • Notices will run for three business days, after which candidates have ten business days to file credentials, with prior ENRE and Enargas applicants carried over unless they opt out.
  • A Selection Committee must be constituted within 20 business days to review records, conduct interviews and elevate shortlists to the Energy Secretariat and the Economy Ministry before final executive appointments.
  • Directors face five-year terms with annual staggered turnover and are barred from holding direct or indirect interests in MEM companies or active gas industry firms.
  • ENRE and Enargas continue operating during the transition with staff protections, and the unified regulator is due to be constituted by January 3, 2026 if the 180-day timeline holds.
