Overview

  • Resolution 831/2025 created an administrative protection system for officers in the Policía Federal, Gendarmería, Prefectura Naval, Policía de Seguridad Aeroportuaria and Servicio Penitenciario Federal who report or witness crimes.
  • The regime bars actions such as unjustified transfers, unwarranted sanctions, hostile work environments and other administrative reprisals against reporting personnel.
  • A preliminary summary investigation must verify each report’s credibility before enrollment in the system, with false claims subject to administrative or criminal penalties.
  • Modeled on the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, the framework safeguards confidentiality and aims to shift away from anonymous tips toward named complaints for more effective probes.
  • The registry is now open for submissions and is set to process its first officer applications and related inquiries in the coming weeks.
