Argentina Launches RUNA for Fully Online Registration of New Vehicles

A decree published today formalizes remote registration for new vehicles, anchoring the shift in the Mi Argentina ecosystem.

Overview

  • The Justice Ministry activated RUNA on October 16 to allow 0 km vehicles to be registered entirely online without visiting seccional registries.
  • Dealerships now upload buyer and vehicle data while purchasers sign and validate identity electronically in a dealer-led workflow.
  • After online payment, buyers receive the digital title by email and the cédula verde in Mi Argentina, and dealers fit license plates for handover ready to circulate.
  • Digital inscriptions carry a 0.8% fee, a 20% cut from the current 1%, following an earlier reduction from 2%.
  • The government published Decree 745/2025 in the Official Gazette to formalize remote inscriptions under the RUV framework, and it plans to expand RUNA to centralize broader automotor procedures over time.
