Overview

  • Decree 196/2025 established a digital driver’s license format with the same legal validity as the physical card
  • Renewals follow age-based intervals—five years for ages 21–65, three years for ages 65–70 and annually after 70—with psychophysical exams required from August 2025
  • Course completions and medical exam results are uploaded automatically to Mi Argentina, eliminating any in-person submission
  • Buenos Aires province’s Resolution 198 issues a “Constancia de Trámite Aprobado” for digital-only licenses through September 30, 2025 to address plastic shortages
  • In CABA, Malvinas war veterans, poverty certificate holders, low-income pensioners and public security students are exempt from fees and all drivers may pay extra for an optional physical card
