Argentina Launches 10 Billion-Peso Fund to Aid Buenos Aires Flood Victims

  • Decree 497/2025 was published on July 24 with signatures from President Javier Milei and top cabinet members to establish the emergency assistance program.
  • The Suplemento Único para la Reconstrucción (SUR) will deliver fixed, non-contributory payouts in pesos per affected household.
  • The scheme targets residents of Zárate, Campana, Arrecifes, Capitán Sarmiento, Salto, Mercedes and San Antonio de Areco after storms dumped up to 400 millimeters of rain.
  • As the designated implementing authority, the National Security Ministry will determine subsidy amounts, allocation procedures and application requirements.
  • Applicants must be over 18 with at least two years of legal residency, prove real domicile and occupancy in the impact zone, and submit a sworn declaration of damages.
