Argentina Issues Saturday Storm Alerts as Santa Fe Enters Orange Risk

Forecasters warn of brief, intense storms capable of flooding.

  • The national meteorological service placed parts of Santa Fe under an orange alert for Saturday, with Capital, Garay and San Jerónimo forecast 80–110 mm of rain, gusts potentially above 90 km/h and probable hail.
  • The rest of Santa Fe remains under a yellow alert, where 50–80 mm of rainfall, wind gusts up to 75 km/h, frequent lightning and isolated hail are possible.
  • Córdoba is under a provincewide yellow alert for storms, with isolated activity strengthening in the morning, gusts around 50–59 km/h and a forecast high near 30°C on Saturday.
  • Yellow alerts also cover parts of Buenos Aires Province in the south and west, the north of La Pampa, much of San Luis except the north, the east of Mendoza and most of Jujuy.
  • Authorities advise avoiding outdoor activities, securing loose objects and staying away from trees and power posts, and forecasts indicate a swift return to heat with highs climbing into the mid‑30s°C after the weekend.
