Overview
- Official INDEC data show monthly inflation at 2.5% in November, bringing year-to-date inflation to 27.9% and the 12-month rate to 31.4%.
- Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 2.8% and ranked as the third-largest monthly increase after housing and utilities at 3.4% and transport at 3.0%.
- Price spikes were concentrated in a handful of items, including lemons up 30.4%, apples up 19.2%, zapallo anco up 14.8%, potatoes up 13.5% and the asado beef cut up 13.0%.
- Only seven of the 59 tracked products fell in price in November, including white rice, whole chicken, bagged whole milk, firm yogurt, eggs, round tomato and soaked dried peas.
- Provincial data show Jujuy’s inflation at 2.8%, above the national rate and the NOA average of 2.3%, with local increases led by recreation, food and housing/energy and updated poverty-basket figures due next week.
