Argentina Implements New ATM Caps, With Up to ARS 5,000 Fee for Other-Bank Withdrawals

Caps now differ by institution, with some customers able to raise limits through banking apps.

  • Daily withdrawal limits are in force nationwide and vary by bank and customer tier, with several institutions letting users request higher caps via homebanking or mobile apps.
  • The Central Bank authorized banks to charge up to ARS 5,000 per extraction at other banks’ ATMs regardless of Link or Banelco, while withdrawals at one’s own bank ATMs remain free.
  • Notable bank caps include Banco Nación ARS 150,000 by default extendable to ARS 500,000, Banco Ciudad ARS 800,000 expandable to ARS 1.2 million, Banco Galicia ARS 400,000 per operation with ARS 2.4 million in own ATMs, ICBC ARS 550,000, BBVA ARS 2.1 million, and Santander up to ARS 1 million depending on client category.
  • Virtual wallets permit cash-outs with lower, channel‑dependent ceilings; Mercado Pago allows up to ARS 50,000 per operation at Link ATMs, ARS 7,500 at Banelco, roughly ARS 100,000 at participating stores and about ARS 200,000 at Rapipago or Pago Fácil, with an ATM fee of ARS 2,900 that is waived for ANSES beneficiaries.
  • Other fintech limits include Ualá with ARS 40,000 daily at ATMs, Brubank with ARS 60,000 in Banelco, ARS 15,000 in Link, ARS 40,000 cardless, ARS 170,000 via Extra Cash and up to ARS 300,000 at Pago Fácil (monthly cap ARS 1.2 million), and Prex around ARS 50,000 per day depending on the ATM’s bank.
