Argentina Formalizes September $70,000 Pension Bonus and 1.9% Increase

The payout remains capped after President Milei vetoed a larger hike.

Overview

  • Decree 613/2025 was published in the Boletín Oficial, entered into force on August 27, and bears the signatures of Javier Milei, Guillermo Francos and Sandra Pettovello.
  • ANSES will pay an extraordinary, non-remunerative bonus of up to $70,000 in September to retirees and pension beneficiaries, including PUAM and non-contributory pensions, with full payment at the minimum and a proportional amount above that level up to the cap.
  • Under the CPI-linked mobility rule, pension amounts rise 1.90% in September, taking the statutory minimum to $320,277.17 and to about $390,277.17 for minimum beneficiaries once the bonus is added.
  • The bonus will be credited automatically alongside monthly benefits, with minimum pensions paid by DNI from September 8 to 19 and higher-benefit payments scheduled for September 22 to 26.
  • A congressional plan to lift the reinforcement to $110,000 and grant a larger increase was vetoed by the president, leaving the bonus unchanged and prompting criticism from opposition parties and retirees’ organizations.
