Overview
- The Registro Nacional de Armas published Resolution 48/2026 that implements Decreto 306/2026 and sets the administrative rules for possession, registration and trade of supressors (silencers) and night sights.
- Only legitimate users who prove membership in a registered shooting club or hold a valid hunting license may apply to possess these devices and must declare compatible firearms while RENAR may verify technical compatibility.
- Imported devices that lack a factory serial number must obtain an RENAR-assigned serial that is engraved on the device and production, import, export and sale are limited to commercial sellers registered and authorized by RENAR.
- Heirs can use a new administrative route to register controlled devices without a judicial succession ruling but that registration does not establish inheritance rights, a single registral responsible party is allowed and RENAR can suspend processing if disputes arise.
- Requests to carry so-called war weapons now require a clean record from the national recidivism register, psychophysical and competency certificates, an integral risk analysis and a mandatory reasoned opinion from the Commission of Portations and Sanctions, and permits may be suspended or revoked if conditions change.
