Argentina Formalizes 6% Commerce Sector Wage Pact With Monthly Hikes

Monthly $40,000 bonuses extend through year-end with a November review scheduled to track inflation trends.

Overview

  • The Ministry of Capital Humano and Secretaría de Trabajo approved the commerce sector agreement on August 6–7, providing legal certainty to FAECYS and employer groups CAC, CAME and UDECA.
  • Workers will receive a total remunerative salary increase of 6% from July through December 2025, applied as 1% each month.
  • All commerce employees will earn a non-remunerative $40,000 payment monthly, to be included in base pay starting January 2026.
  • A contractual review in November 2025 will allow unions and employers to reassess wages based on evolving economic conditions.
  • The accord adheres to the government’s 1% monthly cap on salary hikes and serves as a template for other sectoral negotiations under President Javier Milei.
