Overview
- Sales of visual-only identifiers end on Dec. 1, 2025, closing the transition to electronic identification.
 - Producers must identify animals at weaning or before first movement, and devices must remain on the animal for life.
 - Each identifier must be registered in SIGSA, with declarations allowed in offices, via self-management, or through the SIGBIOTRAZA app.
 - Senasa will supervise compliance under Law 27.233, and slaughterhouses must declare, extract, and destroy devices after slaughter.
 - Pedigree stock stays under breed-association rules with specified ear placement, and imported animals must be reidentified under the national system before release.
