Overview

  • In June 2025, more than 1.219 million Argentines traveled abroad, the highest June figure in a decade, while inbound arrivals of around 542,000 left a net deficit of 677,200 visitors, according to INDEC.
  • Domestic winter tourism fell 10.9% year-on-year, with 4.3 million Argentines traveling within the country during July 2025, reports CAME.
  • Total spending on winter vacations dropped 11.2% to 1.5 trillion pesos in constant terms even as average daily expenditure rose 4.8% and average stays shortened from 4.1 to 3.9 days.
  • Industry groups attribute the downturn to reduced purchasing power, an unfavorable exchange rate, the absence of the PreViaje stimulus, colder and rainier weather and a surge in promotion-driven bookings abroad.
  • Tourism leaders are urging federal and provincial authorities to introduce targeted promotional measures and incentives to reinvigorate internal demand ahead of upcoming long weekends and the 2026 summer season.
