Argentina Faces Coordinated Price Hikes Starting November 1

Indexation rules are driving confirmed increases with unresolved electricity, gas and water tariffs posing additional upside risk.

Overview

  • Confirmed increases take effect from 1 November for metro bus and subte fares in CABA and Buenos Aires province, with rises of about 3.9–4 percent set by recent provincial and SBASE resolutions.
  • Peajes, private-school fee caps in Buenos Aires province, prepaid health plans and telecom bills have official or company notices for early-November adjustments that will add to household costs.
  • Rental updates will also hit in November and depend on contract clauses: the ICL can produce large year-on-year jumps while quarterly, four-month or six-month clauses yield smaller, scheduled adjustments.
  • Key tariff schedules for electricity, gas and water remain pending from the government and regulators and a partial update of fuel taxes and carbon levies is expected to push pump prices higher.
  • An UNLP report through September 2026 finds regulated service tariffs rose about 15.6% above headline inflation in the AMBA and hit lower-income households hardest, which risks lifting the consumer price index and straining budgets.
