Argentina Declares August 15 Tourism Day Ahead of Immovable San Martín Holiday

Friday’s non-working tourism day comes at employers’ discretion under Law 27.399, preceding the mandatory Aug. 17 observance with double-pay entitlements.

  • The Paso a la Inmortalidad del General José de San Martín on Aug. 17 falls on a Sunday and, being a movable holiday, will not be transferred to a weekday.
  • Public holidays require mandatory rest and double pay for workers who serve them, while non-working tourism days are optional for private employers and carry standard wage obligations.
  • Current legislation stipulates that movable national holidays coinciding with weekends are not shifted, preserving their original dates.
  • The official calendar also lists remaining 2025 holidays on Oct. 12, Nov. 21 and 24, Dec. 8 and Dec. 25.
