Argentina Declares August 15 a Tourism ‘Non-Working Day’ Before San Martín Holiday

Law 27.399 allows the Executive to designate up to three non-working days for tourism to boost domestic travel.

  • Banks will be closed on Friday, August 15, under the BCRA’s banking holiday calendar.
  • Education authorities in Buenos Aires and the City of Buenos Aires have confirmed no classes on August 15 and most public administration offices will remain off.
  • Under Labor Law 20.744, the tourism-focused non-working day is optional for private employers, so workers required to work will receive ordinary pay.
  • Transport operators say subte, train and bus services will run normally on August 15 and with reduced frequencies on the August 17 holiday.
  • Provincial and municipal decrees have added local asuetos on dates such as August 18 and 29 in select Buenos Aires localities, extending regional long-weekend options.
