Argentina Customs Seize 16.8 Kilos of Cocaine Hidden in Truck Hydraulic Jacks

X-ray screening at the Salvador MazzaYacuiba crossing exposed the concealment method.

Overview

  • Authorities carried out three procedures, two at the border crossing and a third in Santiago del Estero after an Aduana alert led Gendarmería to intercept a linked truck.
  • The concealed loads weighed 5.98 kg, 5.03 kg and 5.8 kg, with an estimated total value of about US$120,000.
  • All three drivers, Bolivian citizens, were detained after field narcotests confirmed cocaine base paste inside modified hydraulic jacks.
  • The trucks entered without declared cargo and were reportedly bound for the Buenos Aires metropolitan area despite belonging to different companies.
  • The investigation is being handled by the Unidad Fiscal de Tartagal and Federal Court No. 2 of Santiago del Estero under Customs Code article 866, which carries penalties of up to 12 years.
