Argentina CubeSat Added to Artemis II as NASA Targets February Launch Window

Four astronauts will undertake a 10-day lunar flyaround to prove Orion, SLS plus life-support systems for later landings.

Overview

  • NASA lists launch opportunities beginning 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11 February, with additional windows 6–11 March and 1–6 April, pending final readiness reviews.
  • The crew is Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen.
  • Artemis II will not land on the Moon and is planned as a free‑return flyaround focused on validating life‑support, navigation, communications and radiation assessments.
  • Argentina announced its 12U CubeSat ATENEA as a mission payload, designed to measure deep‑orbit radiation, test components, collect high‑altitude GPS data and validate long‑range links.
  • NASA’s public “Send your name” campaign remains open for submissions to ride aboard Orion through 21 January.
