Argentina Consumer-Goods Imports Hit Record $8.38 Billion Through September

CEPA links the record to sector spikes in appliances, transport, clothing, food, plus a wave of new importers.

Overview

  • Consumer-goods imports reached $8.376 billion in January–September 2025, topping the 2018 peak by $1.693 billion for a 25.3% increase.
  • September alone totaled $1.157 billion, equal to 14.6% of all imports and 4.1 percentage points above the same month in 2023.
  • Appliances, batteries and lamps rose 217.7% versus 2023 to 8.4% of the total; clothing increased 99.2%; transport equipment 69.3%; food products 49.4%.
  • About 9,235 new importers entered the market, a 70% rise from 2023, led by rubber and plastics, leather goods, apparel, and appliances.
  • Market share is concentrated among leaders including Pilisar (14% in appliances), Honda (18% in transport), TAC/Zara (10% in apparel), Nestlé (7% in food) and Adidas (15% in leather goods), while domestic output fell in electronics (-25.7%), textiles (-18.9%), leather (-26.8%) and food and beverages (-0.2%).
