Argentina Confirms Four-Day November Break After Rule Change on Weekend Holidays

The government is applying a new decree that empowers the Cabinet to move weekend holidays to adjacent workdays to boost domestic tourism.

Overview

  • Decree 614/2025, signed by President Javier Milei and Chief of Cabinet Guillermo Francos, allows trasladable holidays that fall on Saturday or Sunday to be shifted to the preceding Friday or following Monday, without affecting inamovible dates.
  • Under the new framework, the Día del Respeto a la Diversidad Cultural was moved from Sunday 12 October to Friday 10 October, creating a three‑day weekend from 10 to 12 October.
  • For November, the government set a tourism non‑working day on Friday 21 and moved the Día de la Soberanía Nacional from 20 to Monday 24, forming a four‑day break from 21 to 24 November.
  • Tourism secretary Daniel Scioli said the changes are intended to desestacionalizar la oferta and activate regional economies, with hotels and gastronomy expecting a lift in activity.
  • Separately, FAECyS and business chambers set Commerce Day observance mainly for Monday 29 September, with some provinces using Monday 22 September, and Piura, Peru, will observe a regional non‑working day on 24 September under Law N.º 15618.
