Argentina Completes Offload of 10,000 Tons of Pipe for LNG Link at San Antonio Este

The completed offload moves SESA’s Argentina FLNG from planning into site preparations, with inspections and overland transport slated within weeks.

Overview

  • Terminal Patagonia Norte finished discharging 2,265 seamless steel pipes from the cargo ship Billion Star, which sailed from Shanghai, and stockpiled the material within the port area.
  • These pipes will be used to build an estimated 15 km dedicated connection tying the San Martín trunk line to offshore systems near Fuerte Argentino to feed floating liquefaction units.
  • Immediate tasks include classification, inspection and staging for overland transport to work fronts as the construction camp and logistics areas are readied.
  • SESA reports a multi‑year LNG supply agreement with Germany’s SEFE for 2 million tonnes per year over eight years, described by both sides as a first large‑scale Argentine LNG export arrangement to Europe.
  • The project is led by SESA—bringing together PAE, YPF, Pampa Energía, Harbour Energy and Golar LNG—with the Hilli Episeyo targeted to start in early 2027 and the MKII in 2028, alongside multi‑billion‑dollar phased investment.
