Argentina Calls Wage Council for Nov. 26 to Set New Minimum Wage and Unemployment Benefit Levels

The move sets a timetable to revisit a wage floor frozen since August.

Overview

  • Resolution 6/2025, published in the Boletín Oficial and signed by alternate chair Claudia Silvana Testa, formally convenes the tripartite Council for November 26.
  • The session will be virtual with a 10:00 Commission meeting, a 12:30 plenary, and a second call at 14:00 if required.
  • The agenda covers setting a new Salario Mínimo, Vital y Móvil and defining the minimum and maximum amounts of the unemployment benefit.
  • The current SMVM remains at $322,200 per month and $1,610 per hour since August, values that also underpin ANSES-administered benefits.
  • If no consensus is reached between the 16 worker and 16 employer representatives, the Government can set the new amounts by resolution, as it did previously.
