Argentina Beef Prices Surge in November as Consumption Ticks Up, CICCRA Reports

With exports down, cheaper chicken helped the domestic market absorb more beef.

Overview

  • Per-capita beef consumption reached 48.3 kg on a Jan–Nov annualized basis, up 3.4% year on year, according to CICCRA.
  • Beef prices accelerated 6.6% in November and were 53.2% higher than a year earlier, with the asado cut jumping 13% month on month to ARS 13,304.75 per kilo.
  • Total beef production for January–November was 2.881 million tonnes r/c/h, roughly flat versus 2024, while November output fell 6.3% from October and 6.7% year on year.
  • Exports totaled 779,600 tonnes r/c/h in the first eleven months, down about 10% from a year earlier, reflecting weaker Chinese demand and a 71.6% monthly drop in shipments to Israel.
  • Whole-chicken prices fell 1.0% in November and 6.8% over four months, easing household protein costs and supporting overall demand.
