Argentina Beef Prices Jump in November, Consumption Edges Higher

Domestic demand proved resilient even as November beef prices jumped, according to CICCRA.

Overview

  • Beef prices rose 6.6% month over month in November and 53.2% year over year, with asado up 13% on the month and leading annual gains at 76.8%.
  • Per‑capita consumption averaged 48.3 kg for January–November, up 2.3% from 2024, with apparent consumption totaling 2.101 million tonnes r/c/h.
  • Output held roughly flat year to date at 2.88 million tonnes r/c/h but fell 6.3% from October and 6.7% year over year in November; slaughter volumes dipped 1.9% YTD as average carcass weight rose 1.4% to 232 kg.
  • Beef exports declined about 10% in the first eleven months to 779.6 thousand tonnes r/c/h, tied to weaker Chinese demand and a 71.6% seasonal drop in shipments to Israel, with November exports down 2.4% year over year.
  • Protein pricing diverged as whole chicken fell 1.0% on the month and 6.8% over four months, while live‑cattle prices climbed 12.8% month over month and 78% year over year to a 15‑year high in relative terms.
