Argentina Bans 'Los Meleros' Honey Nationwide Over Missing Safety Registrations

ANMAT ruled the product untraceable after verifications found no valid RNE or RNPA and a non-existent RENAPA number on the label.

Overview

  • Disposición 6228/2025, published in the Boletín Oficial, prohibits the elaboration, fractioning and commercialization of Los Meleros honey across Argentina, including online sales.
  • Checks by INAL via SiFeGA and the Chaco Bromatology Directorate confirmed the absence of RNE and RNPA and determined the RENAPA number on the label does not exist.
  • The case was opened after a query from the Cámara Argentina de Fraccionadores de Miel, triggering Incidente Federal Nº 4740 and a determination that the product is illegal.
  • ANMAT cited infringements of Law Nº 18.284, Decree Nº 2126/71 and the Código Alimentario Argentino, noting it cannot guarantee the product’s quality, safety or production conditions.
  • The measure covers all lots, formats and expiration dates; provincial and local authorities were notified, a market withdrawal was recommended and the disposition was signed by ANMAT administrator Nélida Agustina Bisio.
