Overview
- The Argentine Federal Police detained Angelina Oliveira da Silva and Kauã Kazahaya de Arruda in San Miguel de Tucumán on Thursday, Nov. 5, and they remain in custody under measures ordered by Juzgado Federal N°2.
- Brazilian investigators say the two are the main suspects in the death of 46-year-old U.S. game developer Tamir Nadav, whose body was found on Sept. 18 in Maringá, Paraná, bound and inside a locked room.
- Authorities allege the crime involved a prior kidnapping and extortion, and that suspects used Nadav's funds to make high-value purchases including two luxury watches paid via PIX as part of a scheme to mask his disappearance.
- Police linked the pair to the case after finding personal documents and bank cards at Nadav's home, and Interpol issued red notices before Argentine agents, with DUOF Tucumán, located and arrested them following their reported entry from Paraguay on Sept. 19.
- The Tucumán federal court, presided by Judge Guillermo Díaz Martínez, will handle Brazil's extradition request while international cooperation between Brazil, Argentina, Interpol and U.S. authorities continues and judicial review proceeds.
