Overview

  • The controllers’ union ATEPSA began a staggered strike running August 22–30 with three‑hour stoppages on set days across the national network.
  • During strike windows, controllers restrict ground authorizations for takeoffs and halt the receipt and transmission of flight plans, while arrivals continue to be handled.
  • Aerolíneas Argentinas reported 28 cancellations and 43 reschedulings in the first 13:00–16:00 slot, affecting more than 8,000 passengers, and later tallied over 10,500 affected through the day.
  • By late afternoon at Buenos Aires’ Ezeiza and Aeroparque, airport data showed 47 flights canceled and 34 reprogrammed; Flybondi said over 7,000 of its customers were impacted and LATAM offered free date changes.
  • EANA cites 17 negotiation hearings and a court rejection of an ATEPSA injunction as it condemns the action, while airlines advise passengers to check itineraries and emergency, sanitary, humanitarian, state, and search‑and‑rescue flights remain exempt.
