Argentina Accelerates Bus Payment Overhaul as 15 AMBA Lines Add Contactless Options

City upgrades and bank promotions are pushing adoption, with municipal benefits tied to registered SUBE cards.

  • Officials confirmed 15 AMBA bus lines now accept alternatives to SUBE, including national routes 49, 57, 78, 86, 87, 88, 93, 97, 111, 127, 130, 180 and 193, with provincial additions reported as 410 and 429 in some lists and 249 and 410 in others.
  • Riders can pay with contactless debit, credit and prepaid cards (Visa and Mastercard), NFC-enabled phones and watches, QR codes from approved apps, or SUBE physical and digital.
  • The fare is unchanged regardless of method, and SUBE users continue to receive social discounts and transfer benefits across buses, trains and subways.
  • Santa Fe began replacing on-board validators to enable QR, contactless cards and NFC payments, with Nación Servicios expecting installation and tuning to conclude in the coming days.
  • Banco Nación announced a Bahía Blanca promotion through September 30 that covers 100% of the fare for BNA+ clients paying contactless or with QR under daily limits, while Córdoba will run its Tarifa Social +70 exclusively through SUBE with 40 free trips per month.
