ARENA Backs Relectrify’s ‘Inverterless’ Battery With A$25 Million for Commercial Rollout

The grant funds up to 100 MWh of demonstrations to validate AC power delivered directly from cells for Australian business users.

Overview

  • Relectrify’s AC1 uses cell-level electronics to generate grid-compliant AC without a separate inverter, a design the company says delivers 20–30% more lifetime energy and higher long-term capacity retention including 99% of available energy each cycle.
  • ARENA’s funding will support deployments targeting commercial, industrial and small front-of-meter sites, with up to 100 MWh installed as reference projects to gather performance data.
  • The AC1 targets the “missing middle” of large energy users by aiming to improve payback through reduced installation complexity, maintenance needs and system footprint.
  • The project includes a knowledge-sharing program to publish case studies and operating results that support wider adoption and renewable integration.
  • Relectrify is scaling production with manufacturing and assembly in Taiwan and plans to expand its Melbourne team.
