ARD to Launch ‘Werwölfe’ Reality Series on Mediathek Ahead of October TV Debut

Overview

  • The first four of 12 episodes will premiere on ARD Mediathek on 25 September, with episodes 1–2 airing on Das Erste at 22:50 on 2 October and subsequent installments streaming and broadcasting through 9 October.
  • Contestants include a soldier, poker player, actor, mentalist and chess grandmaster who receive secret roles and must identify three werewolves among them through nightly eliminations and daily deliberations.
  • Comedian Michael Kessler serves as narrator for the psychological strategy format that eschews celebrity casting in favor of diverse non-professional participants.
  • Produced by ITV Studios Germany in France, the series adapts the cult tabletop game Die Werwölfe von Düsterwald based on the French TV hit Les Loups-Garous.
  • To accommodate late-night airings, long-running soaps Rote Rosen and Sturm der Liebe will be removed from Das Erste’s daytime schedule for the duration of the run.
