ARD Sets October Release for Three-Part No Angels Documentary

The film combines year-long filming and archival material to present the four members’ candid accounts of fame, personal crises, and recent tour disruptions.

Overview

  • On Friday, Sept. 11 ARD confirmed the three-part documentary 'No Angels – Das sind Wir' will stream in the ARD Mediathek from 14 October and have its first TV broadcast on Das Erste on 17 October at 23:55, with the mediathek run planned for five years.
  • The film follows the quartet who currently perform together — Nadja Benaissa, Lucy Diakovska, Sandy Mölling and Jessica Wahls — and shows them reflecting on their rapid rise, later splits, comebacks and long-term effects of fame.
  • Producers say a camera team followed the four singers for more than a year and the documentary mixes new interviews with archive footage and contributions from contemporaries such as former Popstars jurors and former Bravo editor Alex Gernandt.
  • Production credits name Warner Bros. ITVP Deutschland producing for MDR in cooperation with NDR, ARD Kultur, HR, SWR and RBB on behalf of ARD.
  • The series frames the No Angels’ story as part of the wider rise of TV casting shows in Germany since 2000 and gives the members a public space to revisit difficult episodes of their career, which could change how fans and media view their legacy.
