ARD and ZDF have acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights for all 51 matches of the UEFA EURO 2028 tournament, set to take place in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The agreement was finalized through their joint agency SportA in partnership with UEFA's agent CAA Eleven, ensuring comprehensive free-to-air coverage for German audiences.
This deal contrasts with the 2024 tournament, where ARD and ZDF shared limited sublicensed rights, while Telekom and RTL held significant portions of the broadcast.
EURO matches have historically delivered massive viewership in Germany, with the 2024 quarterfinal between Germany and Spain drawing over 27 million viewers and an 81% market share.
While the exact match schedules for 2028 are yet to be announced, ARD and ZDF have positioned themselves as key platforms for major international football events in Germany.
