Archer to Supply Midnight Powertrain for Anduril–EDGE Omen in First Third-Party Deal

The pact signals a shift to dual-use markets to generate revenue during uncertain passenger air taxi timelines.

Overview

  • Archer announced at the Dubai Airshow that it will provide its in-house electric powertrain for the Omen autonomous hover-to-cruise aircraft co-developed by Anduril Industries and UAE-based EDGE Group.
  • The agreement is Archer’s first external application of its propulsion system and establishes a new revenue stream for the eVTOL developer.
  • Anduril and EDGE say the United Arab Emirates has an initial commitment for 50 Omen systems, with full-rate production targeted by 2028.
  • Archer’s package includes U.S.-built proprietary battery packs with thermal runaway protection and electric engines, with additional validation underway through a NASA Space Act agreement.
  • The deal deepens Archer’s existing relationship with Anduril following work on a hybrid Midnight for defense applications, reflecting a sector-wide push into defense and logistics as certification slows for passenger services.
