Archer Aviation to Launch Air Taxis in Japan with $500M Deal

Archer partners with Soracle for a fleet of 100 eVTOL aircraft to address urban transportation challenges in Japan.

Archer Aviation has secured a deal to sell up to 100 Midnight eVTOL aircraft to Soracle, a joint venture between Japan Airlines and Sumitomo Corporation.
The $500 million agreement aims to introduce zero-emission air taxi services in congested Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.
Archer's Midnight aircraft can carry four passengers and a pilot, with a range of 100 miles and speeds up to 150 mph.
The joint venture will work with the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau to obtain necessary certifications for commercial operations.
A public flight demonstration is planned for the World Expo 2025 in Osaka to showcase the technology and gain public support.
