Overview

  • Archer Aviation and United Airlines have announced a plan to launch an air taxi network connecting Manhattan to three major airports—JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark—and three regional airports: Westchester, Teterboro, and Republic.
  • The service will utilize Archer's all-electric Midnight aircraft, which seats four passengers and a pilot, with flight times ranging from 5 to 15 minutes.
  • Passengers will be able to book air taxi trips as an add-on to their United Airlines flight reservations, integrating the service into traditional air travel.
  • The network will operate from existing Manhattan helipads at East 34th Street, West 30th Street, and the Downtown Skyport, leveraging partnerships with fixed-base operators for infrastructure support.
  • While the Midnight aircraft has not yet received FAA type certification, Archer aims to launch the service as early as 2026, with pricing intended to be competitive with Uber rides.
