Archer Aviation and InterGlobe Enterprises to Launch Electric Air Taxi Service in India by 2026
In Partnership with India's InterGlobe Enterprises, Archer Aviation targets second international market with the rollout of cost-competitive, low-impact all-electric taxis, aiming to address severe urban congestion and revolutionize travel with potential routes reducing 60-90 minute trips to 7 minutes.
- Archer Aviation has partnered with InterGlobe Enterprises to launch an all-electric air taxi service in India by 2026. This would make India the second international market to experience Archer’s air taxi operations after the United Arab Emirates.
- The air taxi service, subject to regulatory approvals and clearances, will be cost-competitive with ground transportation and aims to improve urban mobility in India with low-noise electric air taxis.
- The two companies plan to introduce up to 200 Archer’s “Midnight” aircraft, which can carry four passengers and a pilot for up to 100 miles.
- Services will initially be offered in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with a 17-mile trip in Delhi planned to take 7 minutes — a journey that typically takes 60 to 90 minutes by car.
- In addition to operating electric aircraft, the companies will finance and build vertiport infrastructure, train pilots, and explore different use cases for the eVTOLs, including cargo, logistics, medical and emergency services, and chartering.
